Not Your Grandmas's SUV: The Acura RDX

By Aidan Busbee

The original marketing efforts for the RDX were aimed strictly at the upwardly mobile young to middle ages man looking for a stylish, high performance vehicle. But Acura soon discovered that more than their small niche was interested in this particular vehicle.

The RDX is close to the Honda CRV in size, but gives more of a luxurious, sporty feel. Acura designed the RDX to fill the needs of professionals who spend their week going to and from work in the city, but who want to get away from it all by taking their vehicle "out" on the weekends!

As a crossover, the RDX offers unibody construction (like cars). This in combination with the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (that distributes the optimum amount of torque between the front and rear axles and left and right wheels) provide a ride that is outstanding amongst comparable vehicles.

RDX offers a turbocharged, 2.4 liter, 4 cylinder engine with 240 hp. The fuel economy is an important factor in today's market and EPA estimates come in at approximately 19 miles per gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. And to add a little environmentally friendly bonus...the Acura RDX also meets ultra low emission standards.

The RDX offers luxurious standard features like heated leather seats, XM radio and ample storage including a lockable dual-level center console that can easily accommodate a briefcase and/or laptop. Buyers are welcome to check out the technology package to add navigation, real time traffic updates, rear view cameras and upgraded sound with DVD-Audio.

Make sure to check out available specials available for the RDX before you head to the nearest Acura dealer to test drive the Acura RDX! Or just visit AcuraDealerTempe.com to view internet specials online and go through detailed lists of features before you make your next car purchasing decision!
