Geller

Did you ever wonder where train horns came from when you hear that lonesome sound in the middle of the night? There have been songs written about them, from the mournful sounds they make to the locomotive version of boogie. Although they were preceded by train whistles, the horns caught on and remain the harbinger of the approaching giants made of steel.

Quite a few different companies have manufactured train horns in the past, the most well known of these include:

Gustin Bacon Manufacturing Company - This company was making air horns for trains until World War II.

The American Strombos Company - Strombos' horn was based on a truck horn and was used on early locomotives.

Westinghouse Air Brake Company (WABCO) - This was the first company to make air horns designed specifically for use on trains, starting in 1910.

Other than the companies listed above, there were other companies making train horns. The companies who pulled ahead of the pack and are still in the business today both have their origins in the company once called AMCO.

Robert Swanson is credited with developing the first air horns, five and six-chime type, for trains. Working at Victoria Lumber Manufacturing in the 1920s, this began as a hobby. Partnering with George Challenger, Ernie Canon, and Bill Piercy the company known as AMCO (Airchime Manufacturing Company) was born in 1949. The first multiple chime air horn used on the trains was the H5 developed by Swanson. It was a big hit and the public let it be known that the horn was a very desirable sound.

Choosing two markets for the horn, Nathan of New York for the American licensee and Hyson of New England, the Airchime Company took off thus, the name Nathan Airchime which is seen on the US horns. Undoubtedly the best model horn, which was Swanson?s final creation, is the model K. Dubbed the best liked and used horn it is at present the chief horn used by American railroads. This is the horn that is used to replace Leslie and Prime horns as they become unusable.

The Leslie company was founded in 1930 by John Leslie and was primarily engaged in the production of parts for steam engines, both for trains and ships. The train horns produced by this company were essentially the Swedish Tyfon horn, which the Leslie company bought the rights to. Until 1950 when Airchime horns came to be more popular, the Tyfon A-200 was the most popular train horn on the market.

Train horns have also found popularity with hobbyists, some of whom even install them on their vehicles! Naturally, these horns are too loud to use in traffic, but are great pieces for show and can be shown off at auto shows and the like.

So the next time that you hear a train passing in the night, take a minute and reflect on these horns and how they were created. You'll hear this truly unique sound and maybe, just maybe whisper a quick thank you to those who made this sound possible.

About the Author:

Yves B. He offers train horns to car, truck and boat owners but he is a firm believer that an air horn should be used responsibly.

Use Water To Fuel Our Cars

By Miles Moore

If gas cost $10 a gallon would you rather use water to fuel your car? Gas has not reached that price yet but it could and probably will do exactly that one day.

As oil supplies start to get used up and world demand continues to increase we can only expect oil to continue becoming more expensive. When the oilwells start to run dry everyone will be clamouring to buy whatever oil is left and we may wish we could buy gas for $10 gallon

We need to act fast to develop alternative energy supplies. We should be responding to this potential crisis to the same degree we would react to war. Everybody needs to feel involved in reducing our demand for imported oil by improving the insulation in properties and using their cars in a more economical way and using less gas.

It has long been known that water is made up of hydrogen and water and we also know that hydrogen is a powerful fuel. There is a way to get the hydrogen out of the water but in the past it was always thought uneconomical.

Engineers have been working away for years to develop simple ways to generate hydrogen gas from water and the seem to have succeeded. You can use these systems to generate gas and feed it into your car engine to use with normal gas.

All you have to do is buy a few parts which are easily available at hardware stores and you can assemble the kit in your garage and fit it to your car. It is said to only take a few hours to complete this.

The idea of using water to power our cars has always been a dream and even with these systems you do still need to buy and use gas but adding hydrogen should reduce the amount of gas you have to buy and use.

I have seen claims that users have doubled their mileage using these water fuel systems while other claim more reasonable improvements of around 20% or so. With an improvement like that it won't take long to make up the money spent on buying the instruction guide which explains clearly what you have to do.

About the Author:

There is more information about gas savers using water for fuel at http://www.waterwonderfuel.com

antique auto car classic insurance

By thulas

The owner of an antique car is usually very proud of their possession and would never consider not insuring it for its full value. With such interest in old cars you will not be surprised to learn there are antique car insurance companies that take a particular interest in insuring this type of vehicle. By having a wide variety of auto insurance companies to choose from, the classic car consumer has the ability to choose the right type of insurance for their needs.

Mainstream auto insurers are also now able to provide this type of insurance for antique cars which they have a name for; 'collectors auto insurance'. Operatives for these companies can take all the details of your car so they can tailor make the policy to fit the car. Your level of cover will depend on how much you can afford but it is possible to lower this by arranging for your deductible to be raised above the minimum set by the insurer.

Large insurers may not specialize in antique car cover but they are usually old and trusted with a large customer base which is important when you are insuring your precious possession. These large companies are also able to insure your modern car at the same time and may even have a discount scheme for multiple policies. Antique car insurance with larger companies that do not specialize in this type of policy may be more expensive but this is often worth the extra as they are well established.

There are also many independent auto insurers available to purchase car cover for an older car and these tend to specialize and will not insure any other types of cars. Some of these independent insurance companies will only insure a particular type of classic car, so if the car you are attempting to insure is a rare one, it may be difficult to find a provider that will insure it.

To be on the safe side it is best to check out any insurance companies, especially the smaller ones so you can be happy in the knowledge that your premium money and antique car are not at risk. The fear for people using a small independent car insurer is when they may need them to pay out for a claim and get a rejection or find they are filing for bankruptcy.

Although it might seem like hard work finding an antique car insurance company that you feel happy entrusting your antique car with, it is far better than not having the car insured. Most classic cars are worth many thousands of dollars and that is a big loss if the car is ever stolen or destroyed so having auto cover may be the most valuable protection you ever purchase.

About the Author:

You can check out: health insurance lima ohio plus qualchoice health insurance of ohio for more reviewed information.

Gas Savers Under the Microscope - Water4Gas and HHO Generators

By Gary Stern

"Watch your car's mileage rise to unprecedented heights and your gasoline expenses go down with water as your car's fuel!"

"That sounds too good to be true!" you might be telling yourself.

And I must admit I was thinking of the same thing when I visited at Water4Gas' site.

And to add to these outrageous-sounding claims, they're saying than using water for gas is a notch or two ahead of the best gas savers around including hydrogen stored in tanks.

PLUS you'll even create your own HHO generators that provide your car with hydrogen-on-demand...according to their claim that is.

Now that makes it sound SCAMMIER! I'm sure a lot of online buyers would agree to that. How many times have we stumbled upon online products that are pure hype with no content?

Using plain tap water as fuel and to create hydrogen for your car sounds too good for it to be true.

Think about it ? isn't this stop for mechanical engineers and physicists? And this website is telling me I can create one with ease?

Not to mention you're NOT dealing with some ordinary technical stuffs here. It's something even mechanical experts and engineers have a hard time pondering on!

And I'm glad I crumbled and bought the said manualEVERYTHING on the website about water as the best of all gas savers around is TRUE.

Let me state a fact - known as Brown's gas, HHO is way more powerful (3 times) than ordinary gasoline. And when water is broken down to its basic components (H2O), it has the same make-up of Brown's Gas.

The power of Water4Gas as the best among the rest of the gas savers around is based on the facts mentioned above.

Have you got a toolbox with all the basic tools? Good! That's everything you need (PLUS the HHO generators manual) to experience the savings and

It all boils down to the electrolysis of water (by using your car's batteries). This process will take care of splitting water's molecules and forming the famed Brown's Gas from itthe very substance that will do wonders for your car.

And how wonderful are the results?

Here's just a couple of the benefits me and my car is enjoying -

- Whopping savings of $100 or so every month

- My car has clearer emissions (with lesser pollutants)

- And my car's parts (especially the engine) is running smoother and quieter than ever

Oh! One more thing, the savings (the part I love most) just keep increasing every month.

So what's the verdict on this one? I don't know about you BUT Water4Gas' HHO generators manual is indeed worth every penny and has paid for itself many times over!

About the Author:

Download your free HHO Generator plans to get an idea on how to build your own HHO Generator.

Motorcycle Clubs, Brotherhood Mentality vs The Gang Mentality

By LJ James

MOTORCYCLE CLUBS THE BROTHERHOOD MENTALITY VERSUS THE GANG MENTALITY

I want to talk about the Brotherhood mentality versus the gang mentality in the Motorcycle Club universe. Now for those of you who may be asking what is the difference? I will set up a scene to help give you a peek into the life! At a local Bar a member of a Motorcycle Club strolls in and he sees four Bikers playing pool, He can tell they are a bit nervous, They see his patches and they know who he is with. Now how does he act? Does he walk over to the pool table knock the eight ball in the pocket say "game over ladies, now who's gonna buy me a beer? Or does he walk over introduce himself and let them know when they are done shooting pool they are welcome to stop over at the bar have a beer and talk with him! One is the gang way of thinking the other is the Brotherhood way of thinking! I really don't think I need to tell you which is which!

Now one thing everyone needs to remember is all of the original Motorcycle Clubs Started out with the idea of being a tight nit group of Brothers and almost all of these Motorcycle Clubs where friendly to one another. Don't forget many of the men who started the first MCs where returning home after serving their country during times of war. They were looking for that feeling of Brotherhood here at home that they had when they were fighting for our great country. These were good men seeking adventure, looking to ride their Motorcycles and have a great time with like minded people. Today most Motorcycle Clubs have gone back to that way of Club thinking, There are very few Clubs left that still have the Gang Mentality that was seen mostly during the 70's threw 90's. During the late 90's things had just gotten too far out of hand and most Motorcycle Clubs began to realize the Gang Mentality was not the way it was meant to be and it was not the way they wanted it to be anymore, This was not what the Clubs were started for! Many Clubs who had been friends over the years were now fighting with each other. No one wanted to wear club support gear and things were just not fun anymore. These MC's had all started their Clubs with the same ideals and ways of thinking, How and why had they grown so far apart that they now hated each other!

Well the answer to how is during the 50's and 60's the golden age of the Brotherhood years of Motorcycling, The Motorcycle Clubs were really huge. During this great time many of the Biker Movies that came out showed Motorcycle Club Members as Bullies and Thugs. The Bikers in these movies would pick on those weaker then them, take over small towns and the Clubs in these Movies all fought each other just like the street gangs of the time! So of course over time many new Bikers came to believe that this was the way it was. So when New Clubs started this was how they would act and the Original Motorcycle Clubs now had members who where young kids looking to prove how tough they were by starting fights with each other. The Original Motorcycle Club Members had been threw real wars together and they were as hard as nails and had nothing to prove to no one! But many younger members felt that they had something to prove and would imitate the Biker Clubs from the Movies they had scene and soon it was Biker against Biker, Brother against Brother, MC against MC. Thus began the Dark age of the Motorcycle Gang Mentality years.

Now for the question Why did this Happen? Well When something Changes the way of thinking and being of Groups like the Motorcycle Clubs so far from their original ideals, You have to ask was it just an accident these movies did this? Or was there more to it? Was there a plan behind it? Is there someone or some group out there that would benefit from having these large groups of Motorcycle Clubs who are run in a very military fashion and are made up of many ex-Military Members fighting against each other? If these Clubs all got along and worked together the world could be a very Different place! The Motorcycle world certainly would be! Are there people out there who are afraid of this happening?

Today there are very few Motorcycle Clubs left that have the Gang Mentality. Most if not all have gone back to the Brotherhood way and the word Gang in the Motorcycle Club world has become taboo. Now as Motorcycle Clubs are beginning to go back to the way it was at the start and trying to put the past behind them, I am noticing that there are more and more Biker movies and TV shows Coming out. Will these shows show MC's in a good way? Will they go out of their way to stir up the quarrels of the past? Will they show us as mindless Bullies much as the Movie Wild Hogs did? Most Important will we let them influence how we really are? Or have we learned from our past? If all continues to go well we could soon be making our way into the Second Golden age of Motorcycle Club Brotherhood back to where it all Started !!!

All Bikers need to ask themselves one question, Are you part of the Problem or part of the Solution?

I am Your Bro

LJ James with AmericanBikerX.com

About the Author:

LJ James is a Brother of the Mortal Skulls Motorcycle Club and writes stories and articles about the biker brotherhood. If not, you are missing out on a chance to drive home your dream car at ridiculously low prices. The local police car auctions can offer tons of pleasant surprises to buyers. Who knows, you might find your favorite BMW Z3 roadster there at 10% of its retail price?

The impounded vehicles found at a typical police impound car auction are all repossessed or lost automobiles. They are either confiscated or repossessed from tax defaulters or those who refuse to pay off their traffic fines. Lost vehicles that are not claimed within a week will be auctioned away.

Are the vehicles in working condition?

The government takes good care of these vehicles. After all, the condition affects the price. Many of them are still quite new and are range from a few months to several years old. You do find some old vintage ones. Regarding buying at the local police car auctions, there is one setback in that you are not offered any warranty. You buy the automobile in its condition and there will be no refunds should anything go wrong.

However, this little risk is easily offset by the rock bottom price you pay. The cars there can go for as low as $200. Yes, and it is no joke.

Tips For A Great Deal

1. Locating the Local Police Car Auctions - It is not always easy since they are not heavily publicized or advertised. You may have to make some calls or visit the websites of the government agencies in particular to the enforcement departments such as the sheriff's office and DEA.

2. Register As Bidder - It is a must to register as a bidder. If you forget that, forget about participating in the event at all.

3. Check the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) - Find out and run it through CarFax website. It will reveal the vehicle history such as the accident records, registration date and other information.

4. Show Up Earlier Than Others - Be the No.1 person there if you can. The idea is that you want to have enough time to think and consider which ones you really like and put on your choice list.

5. Ask a Qualified Mechanic Along - Since you cannot test drive the automobile, at least let a mechanic run through the different parts and offer you sound advice on the condition of the car you are bidding on. A friend who is good with cars is also good.

Finally, take action today and get ready to drive home your dream wheels from the local police car auctions.

About the Author:

Find your dream car through seized auto auctions today. So you know step one and you're already doing it! Good job. Step two may be a little less clear. Even knowing which manufacturer you trust leaves you with a seemingly endless number of questions to answer before you make your final car purchasing decision.

Step Two is deciding which model you want to buy. This isn't the time for spontaneous, instinctive decisions. This is a time for deep thought, meditation and careful planning to make sure you don't regret your purchase later! There are many models out there to choose from and you can say good things about all of them!

Make sure that you are shopping within a budget you can afford. It's best if you can afford it easily, but that's not always possible. Make sure that the total price is right and that the monthly payment after interest is something that your budget can accommodate. If you don't have a budget then make one before you head out to buy your new car. Knowing how much you can afford to buy means knowing how much you spend.

Experts suggest that the "suggested" amount to budget towards a vehicle would be 20% of your net income, but defining a budget specifically for your own needs works the best. You might find that you can rearrange your spending to accommodate your new car purchase easily.

You need to choose the model that fulfills the MOST of your needs and wants. Don't settle for too little. There are many, many options out there. Find the one that suits you!

Four wheel drive? A great sound system? Extra seating? DVD/Navigation system? Outline your needs and wants clearly in writing before you head out shopping and then separate them into two columns: needs and wants. Get as much of your list fulfilled as you can on the budget that you've given yourself. The more you're willing to look; the more likely it is that you'll find the perfect vehicle!

About the Author:

Aidan Busbee, Acura specialist, knows cars...especially the Acura. Moore

The fuel price has reached a mark that is so unbelievable, but unfortunately, this is the reality we have to face and so to cut down the expenses we must think of some creative ways. One of the ways is through carpooling. This is nothing new but not popular because people simply don't see how it can benefit them in every way. However, as the fuel price is totally uncontrollable, people are looking for ways to save money. You benefit more when you carpool.

You get to save the environment. The nature is dying. Nature alone will be extinct if no one cares for it anymore. The truth is we live in the nature and it is part of us. Without Earth, there will be no us. So, by taking care of the nature is taking care of our home. Carpooling helps by reducing the number of cars on the road, thus reducing the amount of Carbon Dioxide being released into the air.

Save more money. You will be sharing the fuel money with your carpooler friends so it will cut down your expenses and you can save some money. Even if just a few dollars can make big difference to your savings so start carpooling and see your bank account grow bigger.

Cut down the traffic jam. Everyone hates traffic jam. By carpooling, you can reduce the cars on the road and make the whole journey smoother. Some people have to wait in the traffic jam for hours before they reach the office. It is wasting time and wasting fuel as engine used up more fuel when idling.

Pay the lowest parking fee. You can never avoid parking fees if you have a car. Now, you get to share the cost with all the carpoolers thus everyone can save up a bit of money, which in turn will make big difference in long term. It is recommended to get a monthly pass rather than paying for parking on daily basis.

Mingle with people. Talking is something we rarely do these days especially when we are so caught up in work and family. There is simply no time to socialize with friends so you can use the opportunity of carpooling to talk and discuss with friends that carpool together. It is also a great way to catch up with each other.

About the Author:

Learn more fuel and gas saving tips from Patrick G. Here are a few tips to save gas you can start using right now to off set this.

Savings of upwards of 20% are not unheard of if you just take an active role in managing your gas.

Or, the other way to look at it, would be that you can increase your gas mileage by 20%. Sounds far fetched? Not really. It is more possible than ever these days.

First, slow down. You do not need to drive so fast, or to accelerate faster than everyone else from the stop signs and the stop lights. Not only will this help on gas mileage, but it will also help with the maintenance of the car.

Your car needs oxygen to burn gas and make the engine run. But, if you have too much oxygen, there will be gas left over after the combustion takes place. This is wasted gas. The most likely culprit of this is a loose gas cap. When you replace the cap after filling up, just make sure it clicks.

You also uses less gas when the car is aligned properly. But for this tip, just make sure the aire in the tires is inflated to the optimal pressure rating, which is listed on the side of the tires. You will notice an immediate difference in the drivability of the car. This, in turn, will take less gas to make it go forward.

The most uninformed habit out there by millions is buying super unleaded fuel. There is no need in this. I really don't care what the car manuals tell you, your car runs just as efficiently on regular unleaded as it does super unleaded. This change alone will save you 5-6% in gas.

There are so many tips to save gas out there, and these are only a few of them. With the economics and the market prices of gas currently, I would suggest we all do our part and put in place as many tips to save gas as we can.

About the Author:

If you are looking for ways on how to save gas, then this FREE book with over 60 tips to save gas will help you cut your gas bill by up to 20%.

Why Honda Is A Renowned Motorbike Producer

By Chris Channing

Honda, an acclaimed leader in vehicle product, has also thrown their hat into the ring of making quality motorbikes. Honda motorbikes stand apart from the rest with a new level of craftsmanship, dedication to quality, and of course the customer satisfaction that has been so highly revered in the company.

Speed and functionality attract most new riders who want to become more adept in riding Honda motorbikes. For such riders, the Honda sports bike is recommended. Sports bikes are a "middle of the road" option that allows for speed and the durability to do tricks. Taking them out on an off-road area might not be possible, but they cater to the adrenaline junkies in society quite nicely.

Those who have more refined tastes in what a Honda motorbike should be will likely opt for the cruiser motorbikes. Cruise motorbikes won't be able to do the tricks a sports bike can, but it can zoom along quite nicely. They also make for a smoother ride, so they are appealing to older adults who value a smooth ride over the adrenaline obtained in daring speeds and tricks.

A Honda off-road motorbike is another option that should be considered- especially for nature lovers who like to be outdoors as opposed to the streets. Off-road Honda motorbikes are built to last, since they will be crawling over jagged and questionable terrain. Just keep in mind they won't be the best in performance while racing a sports bike, but they'll be able to go where a sports bike never could.

If a competitive nature is instilled in the buyer, they may consider the Motocross-specific line of Honda motorbikes. Motocross Honda bikes are specially engineered to bundle durability and performance in one package. It's sort of like mixing a sports bike with the off-road bike Honda offers- and the price certainly reflects it.

And of course we shouldn't forget the touring line of Honda bikes, that allow for travel instead of adrenaline or off road adventures. Touring motorbikes have much more storage space, allow for multiple passengers, and can carry more weight than the average Honda motorbike. They may be more expensive, but they are perfect for travelers of all types.

Final Thoughts

Few other manufacturers can stand up to the Honda line of motorbikes. Honda has become the industry leader in competitions such as Motocross, and appeals to riders of all types: from the casual rider to the adrenaline seeker. All you have to do is save on gas. When you need your car to get you places and need it to get your job done, you need to focus on how much gas you spend. With gas costing around $4 a gallon , we need to save all the gas we can. Here are some great tips on how to do just that.

If we want to continue living with our normal lifestyle we are going to have to learn how to save gas. When your car is an essential part of getting your job done, then you need to pay attention to how much gas you spend. Crude oil is going way up, at costs well over $130 a barrel and gas prices sitting at $4 a gallon, we need to find other options. The following tips will help you learn how to save on gas.

The way HHOs work is very simple: A small canister is placed in the car and the contents are bicarb of soda mixed with water. The canister is hooked into the battery and it creates HHO gas, which is sent to the manifold or to the carburetor, whichever your car has. This type of system will save you about 30% on your gas. The engine also runs quieter and even more efficiently

HHOs work in the following way. A small canister is mixed with water and bicarb of soda, this canister then get power from the battery and produces HHO gas which is sent to the manifold or carburetor. What you end up with is an increase in MPG, by about 30%.Users of HHO systems also say their engine seems to run more efficiently. Not only that but you also release fewer emissions into the environment.

Turn off your car immediately when you get somewhere. Don't run your car on idle as it wastes a lot of gas. Here are some other tips on basic car maintenance that can help you save on gas.

* Turn off the air conditioner in heavy traffic, and on the highway be sure it is on, because when you roll down the windows you create drag which makes your car use more energy. * Get rid of extra weight in your car. Make sure you don't carry anything you don't need. The extra weight causes your car to use more energy. * Don't use anything that will interfere with your cars aerodynamics. So, don't use luggage racks, bike racks or anything like that. * Check the tire pressure. If your tires are not inflated then your car spends more gas. * Make sure your car is clean and waxed because friction with air causes your car to lose gas mileage.

Other things that have to do with maintenance will also help you save on gas. Make sure that you change your air filter every 10,000 miles, and make sure you get your oil changed on time. Get your car tuned and inspected as it should be, to keep it running well.

These tips can help you save gas, but you should also keep your tank full but not over full. Remember this is added weight and added weight drags your car. If you do all of these you wont be bothered so much by rising gas prices.

About the Author:

You can get a FREE report on tips to save gas which will definitely help you combat the increase in gas prices currently going on.

Plans for HHO Generator

By Robert Marks

Plans for HHO generators can be found all over the Internet. HHO gas is considered experimental and there are forums that discuss gas devises that help increase gas mileage. As gas prices continue to increase you will notice that more gas saving devices and additives will show up in the marketplace.

With gas rising to new levels people are discovering ways to improve gas mileage. Many gasoline additives and devices claim to increase gas mileage. HHO gas is starting to get recognition and is making the news as a possible alternative for supplementing gasoline as a hybrid technology.

This technology can be used with diesel motors and some are trying it on other types of engines that depend on internal combustion. If you recall the conversions of cars and trucks that were converted to propane then you will find this conversion easier and less expensive requiring very few engine modifications. The water to gas kit or HHO fuel cell can be removed and leaves little trace of its existence.

Many people who are building HHO generators from plans are suggesting gas mileage improvements from 15 to 40% some are claiming more. When you build a water for gas kit as they are sometimes called you will find that they can easily be built in a few hours.

Plans for HHO generator should be able to be followed by many people and it could be considered a weekend project. It depends on the plans you have available but the ones I have seen allow for parts that can be found in the house, shop or around town.

When you have completed a HHO fuel cell consider testing it before placing it on the engine to make sure it is producing HHO gas. Often there is plenty of room under the hood of a car, truck or vehicle. In some cases more HHO cells are sometimes added to further increase gas mileage.

About the Author:

Check out Water for Gas Kit or find how to Improve Gas Mileage.

Gas Mileage Increase Tip - Spark Plug Performance

By Bryan Alan

Price levels for oil are gliding up to unprecedented highs. This is caused fuel to increase to prices never seen before. The average level of fuel per gallon is in the $4 range now, and most folks are looking for alternatives to increase mileage. Thankfully, there are several ways to increase mileage without breaking the bank.

First, having basic knowledge of how your engine works will help understand what changes can be made. An automobile engine takes minute amounts of fuel and air into each piston chamber. This mixture is then pressurized by the piston moving upward. This pressurized mixture explodes through a spark transmitted by the spark plug.

This ignition/explosion of the mixture is the power that is used to transfer motion to through the engine into the components of your vehicle to propel the vehicle forward. This process is repeated thousands of times per minute (think RPM's). Also, each piston chamber in your car produces this same result over and over - for example, a V-6 engine means there are 6 chambers doing this, and 6 spark plugs to support.

Making this process of energy transfer work better is a key to increase mileage. Lets discuss the role your spark plug plays specifically. The amount of spark the plug is able to send into the chamber is directly related to the quality of the plug itself. The more air tight the seals on the plug, and the higher the platinum level in the plug, the more efficient the charge sent will be. A more efficient charge means less additional charge is needed to get the same output level. Thus, less RPM's and less fuel is used.

Your vehicle will operate more efficiently with new performance level spark plugs. Most plugs will get you an additional two to four percent increase in fuel mileage. Fortunately, a great performing plug is also inexpensive - usually around $4 each. This makes your return on investment very attractive.

About the Author:

Get more tips and advice on how to increase mileage, be sure to visit savefuelshop.com. After market units use the most current technology and maps to help you get where you want to go with the greatest accuracy.

A portable GPS navigation system provides lots of options, besides giving directions. You can use all sorts of items, such as an iPod, cell phone and TV applications. Buying these items as add-ons is really the way to go. These systems provide more than just directions, though. Many of them attach to your windshield and run from the vehicle's battery. A big bonus of these systems is that they can go just about anywhere- just plug them in to the outlet in your car and go!

Some Garmin portable GPS units also have built-in batteries to provide you with navigation even without an external power source. The popular and versatile Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS Navigator comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that will last up to 8 hours on a single charge. Although it has a good size screen it is compact enough to fit easily in a pocket or purse. The Garmin Nuvi 350 Personal Travel Assistant provides much more than directions; it has an Mp3 player, an audio book player and much more.

One more type of GPS is referred as in-dash. It usually has a touch screen, allowing you manual entry of your destination information. Such a device can be installed in place of the radio that came with the car so that it is controlling the whole sound system.

With options like Bluetooth, iPod integration, satellite radio, and TV tuners, as well as systems that are designed to fit both standard, and large radios, you can build a system for any vehicle with all the options at a fraction of the cost of dealership installation.

If you put as much information into the GPS system as possible, it will be easier to find your location. Some maps are on the hard drive of the system, and you can just download the updated ones and put them onto the hard drive as updates. There are also actual maps, which are on a DVD the system can read. So you will have to purchase the new DVD maps so that you can stay up-to-date on new roads.

Although they are not always as easy to operate as an in-dash GPS system, the new portable GPS units are small, affordable and include powerful functionality. They include such features as internal, rechargeable batteries and pre-loaded North America map databases. Higher end models can have real-time traffic reporting which is becoming available on lower price units, although those often require additional hardware upgrades.

While they were once expensive, portable navigation systems have become affordable for everyone. Money spent on these systems is more than worth it when you consider all of the utility and fun that you get for the price. Most importantly, however, you will never have to stop for directions again with one of these systems.

About the Author:

Portable GPS navigationdevices are now affordable and very useful. The Garmin Nuvi 350 Personal Travel Assistant gives you more than just directions. If you are hiring a professional mover to assist you, it is essential to choose a moving company that will make the process easier, not harder. In this respect, a big national moving company will serve you better than a locally based mover. Not only can you be assured of a competitive price, you will have peace of mind knowing your possessions will arrive intact, on time, and end up in the right place.

Since the Household Goods Transportation Act came into effect in 1983, the moving industry has become more and more seedy and represents an area where the consumer must be wary and cautious in order to guard against being taken advantage. Since there is more competition in the moving industry than ever before, most companies will do anything they can to offer the lowest possible price. Moreover, small, local movers will be apt to try to scam a hapless individual whose belongings can be held for a ransom. One common scam is the low-ball (and ultimately inaccurate) estimate. A non-binding estimate can be a useful tool for a local moving company to make a sucker out of their latest client. An estimate is given, but, on loading the truck, it is discovered that the individual who is relocating has more stuff that was originally expected. Since it is already in the company's truck, the person will have little choice but to pay to get his kidnapped possessions delivered to his new home.

National movers, since they have generally designed their pricing structures to assure the moving company makes a modest profit while still keeping their prices competitive. Moreover, a national moving company has less to gain from a scam, since their reputation on the national scene will suffer if it is known they give inaccurate quotes. Local companies usually work on smaller budgets, so any extra money they can squeeze out of a particular job is worth it. Also, local moving companies are usually owned and operated by an individual who is directly influenced by the company's financial gains, whereas a national company has salaried employees who are far more impartial and disinterested in the profit margin and more interested in doing a quick and efficient job.

As they are large and serve a great many consumers across the country, a national moving company will have better equipment and will be able to attract skilled employees who are happy with their level of pay. This ensures the people and tools that are handling your possessions will be less likely to damage or steal them in comparison to a local company, which will often buy one dolly and never replace it and service the trucks as sparingly as possible.

Finally, national moving companies tend to have the best insurance policies; designed to ensure that your possessions are safe. The most important aspect of relocating is ensuring that your furniture will get to its destination intact and on time, as anyone who has gone through a bad move is well aware of. Particularly when it comes to inter-state or international moves, a national company is the safest route as they are expected to track their trucks movements and only an immaculate service record will keep up the moving company's reputation. It is not that local companies do not want to deliver good service. But quite often, they cannot guarantee the same level of security as a national moving company can.

About the Author:

Premiere Van Lines is a national moving company that services all of Canada and some areas in the US. Many consumers renew their policies automatically without comparison shopping, or simply call the first company for which they see an advertisement. Careful planning can really help to find a better car insurance quote.

Once you get the cheapest rate, you should also make sure it's from a legitimate source, too. If you can't get reliable references from friends, family members or co-workers, check the Internet for reviews and experiences, and contact your local business bureau to ensure that you're dealing with a reputable outfit.

Be organized. Write down your information (the make, model, and year of your car; your address; a brief summary of the accidents or tickets you've had in the past 10 years; and any special safety features that your car has on it) in an easy-to-read format, and have it with you while researching policies or speaking with insurance agents. Doing this right from the start will help you to make sure that you don't forget anything.

While you'll certainly be aware of most of this information without having it in writing, such a list will help you remember all the things you need to be sure to mention when on the phone or meeting in person with an agent. After all, you'll only get quotes that are truly comparable across agencies if you're providing the same information to each agent.

Also, insurers sometimes offer special deals to drivers who make certain allowances. For example, you may be able to reduce your policy cost substantially, by only driving on weekdays, since the majority of accidents happen on the weekends. It's important to remember to ask each agent with whom you speak if such deals are available.

Other commonly discardable coverage options include towing services, glass, and collision. If you belong to an auto club or an incentive towing service program from your car's dealership, for example, remembering to tell the agent to delete tow coverage can reduce cost of your policy by quite a lot. In general, if you don't have to have it, delete it - and save!

Lastly (it can't be overstated how important this is) get quotes in writing before making decisions! Otherwise you may end up choosing one supplier based on a price you expect to receive, only to see extra terms and conditions on the final forms. Quotes can also differ in their fine print terms and conditions, so be sure to compare details before making your selection. There's nothing wrong with getting quotes over the phone or by visiting various offices, but before you actually compare those quotes and make your choice, be sure you've got them in writing.

Saving on your car insurance can help substantially when it comes to being able to afford the essentials of life, especially during this rough economic period. Following the above suggestions will aid you in your search for a car insurance quote that better fits your budget. And, if you save enough on car insurance, you might even be able to buy enough gasoline to actually go somewhere!

About the Author:

To find out exactly how I got car insurance, visit my website about auto insurance rates

Increase Kilometers Per Litre Up To 40% With HHO Gas Generators

By Mark Roberts

Would you like to know how to improve kilometers per litre. Fuel prices go up or vary from day to day and globally some countries pay more than we do for our petrol. You could buy a hybrid but they cost much more compared to comparable vehicles. If you keep up on the maintenance and repairs of your current vehicle you should be able to maintain peak performance of he engine and in some cases if an engine diagnostic is performed and a problem is discovered you could find that you increase kilometers per litre. If you live in certain countries miles per gallon is a standard. Regular scheduled maintenance and tune ups should help you get the best mpg. Many newer vehicles only require tune ups around 150,000 kilometers.

You may not even know when your last tune up was performed if you bought a used car or there are no service records. When you buy used cars from a reputable used car lot you will find that in most cases a tune up has already been performed to that vehicle. Used car dealers do not always do this when servicing a vehicle. When in doubt and you are having some engine difficulties or rough idle or performance has decreased then schedule that appointment.

Your best kilometers per liter may be realized on your car when you know you engine is serviced regularly, engine diagnostics check out and a tune up is up to date. Things a diagnostic may find is a faulty oxygen sensor and this can rob you of a 40% increase in kilometers per litre. This is usually the number one item to check for when you kilometers decreases substantially and a check engine like comes on. Though in some cases a light may not alert you to this oxygen sensor failure.

Always get oil changes every 5000 kilometers or no longer than what your vehicles owner manual suggests. Dirty oil can reduce kilometers per litre up to 2%. Other tips and secrets include changing out that dirty air filter. Clogged air filters when replaced may be one of you better cost replacement savers, a dirty filter you can increase gas mileage up to 10%. Taking extra weight out of your vehicle can also add kilometers to your tank of gas. The only other option if gas prices are eating your wallet for breakfast and you drive a fuel guzzler truck or SUV is to look for used cars and buy one that gets better kilometers per litre if you can not afford a new car.

An electric hybrid may be out of the question due to costs but what else can you do if you have already followed you owners manuals schedule? You may already be using petrol additives or you may have already found a fuel saving device that is not a scam. Fuel additives can keep your engine and fuel injectors clean optimizing gas mileage. The sad truth is many fuel savings devices do not work or work as claimed but a few do and these age gaining popularity on the Internet and in forums and are often of home built origins.

Of the most recent fuel saving devices that are gaining notice on the internet and the news or news is HHO or Browns gas. Gas produced from HHO gas generators or HHO cells is mixed with the vaporised gas in your vehicles intake manifold this supplemental gas reduces the amount of petrol your vehicle actually may require thus giving you a boost in kilometers per litre. Many HHO cells can be built from home with standard tools and HHO cell plans from common materials. A typical cell is about the size of a 1 litre jar and usually no larger than a 2 litre container and should easily fit under the hood of your car or truck and it is not uncommon to see multiple cells under the hood for maximum efficiency. Still an experimental technology it can be referred to as hydrogen on demand. HHO gas kits or plans are helping people get the best kilometers per litre possible for a standard vehicle and some gains are up to 40% or more! Many benefits such as more performance, reduced emissions and smoother acceleration can be realized.

About the Author:

Learn How To Increase Kilometers Per Litre or HHO Plans

How To Improve Gas Mileage And Save Money

By Pete Roberts

As gas prices continue to escalate you may be looking for ways on how to improve gas mileage. If you are finding ways to improve gas mileage or increase fuel efficiency there are many do it yourself solutions that you should consider as part of your standard vehicle maintenance.

A tune up could get you better gas mileage up to 20% or even more if a bad oxygen sensor is discovered. This is an extreme example but if your engine is idling roughly or hesitating and spiting smoke out the muffler then you should and get a engine diagnostic tune up and this could increase gas mileage and possibly extend the life of your engine saving hundreds or thousands of dollars in maintenance.

Check your tire pressure. Many people overlook this simple maintenance item and it should be checked monthly. By keeping your tires at recommended pressure as stated in the owners manual you could get better gas mileage of 2-3%. Not only that you could save hundreds of dollars of more because when your tires are properly inflated it also maximizes the life of the tire.

Driving habits could have a negative affect on gas mileage. Driving habits can include finding the fastest way to work or the route that is the most direct and has the least amount of stops to your destination. When asking yourself how to increase gas mileage this is a major factor. Check free online mapping services that shows you direct routes.

Do you use your vehicle or car trunk as a free mini storage? For every 100lbs in your vehicle you could be decreasing gas mileage by a percentage point. Some people are so extreme in this extra weight that they may only keep their gas tank filled half the way to reduce weight. Gas weighs about 6.1 pounds per gallon at room temperature. So if your are wondering how to get better gas mileage there are several solutions or methods you can do to help help improve gas mileage.

About the Author:

Find out How To Improve Gas Mileage or Plans for HHO Generator

You can run your car on water VERY EASILY

By Joe Matthews

Are you frustrated with high gas prices? You still would have probably started by speaking with an agent, by telephone, if not in person.

In the past, it seemed ridiculous to assume that any agent would give up their secret weapon in the fight for new clients. Most of them would never even think about handing out a quote to a potential client if they didn't actually come to their office for a real meeting.

That has changed recently, as website sales have replaced an even larger share of agents. This change has been driven by young, urban customers who prefer to do as much of their business over the web as possible. This results in less and less business for agents, who become less effective. That in turn results in forcing older and less sophisticated customers to start using the web as well, since companies are spending more and more effort on web sales.

With people becoming busier and busier, online car insurance quotes have steadily increased in popularity. Clients are now more willing to make big purchases without ever seeing a salesperson and more aware of the terminology involved and the options they can purchase. In short, clients demand more self-service than in previous years.

This has all served to make formerly unknown car insurance firms into viable entities. Every customer online started looking for a free auto insurance quote with no strings attached, and true discount auto insurance - before the market leaders were prepared to offer them. By focusing on this change in customer appetites, small companies were able to become national players.

It seems that now, every American insurance company now offers online car insurance quotes in some form or another. The much greater number of competitors can be a good thing, as competition often leads to lower prices and/or better service from insurance companies.

The key to a low rate on your auto insurance policy to to compare quotes from several companies. These days it is a simple matter of going online and getting quick and private rate quotes. Don't settle for renewing with your current company without comparing the cost and coverage available.

The discount car insurance industry has been changed forever by technology. Ten years ago, before promises of free quotes and huge savings become the norm, it was far more difficult to get quotes and take the time to compare them properly. There are many new competitors in the car insurance business, all seeking to make their mark through lower prices and/or better service when you need them.

About the Author:

Collecting free online car insurance quotes has become easier and faster. With all the forms of car theft and carjacking happening though nowadays, civilians need to be able to protect themselves from criminals who may target their cars. Covert vehicle tracking has become essential even to just the average citizen. Basically it is a way of tracking a vehicle and determining where it is exactly, without the driver having to be aware that the car is being tracked. A special vehicle tracking system is installed and used in order to be able to do this.

These type of occurrences are what made covert vehicle tracking so essentially useful nowadays especially to the average citizen. Covert vehicle tracking is the process of tracking and determining a certain vehicle's location via a vehicle tracking system in such a way that the driver of the vehicle is not made aware that he or she is being tracked. An obvious real world application of such a concept is the pinpointing of the location of a stolen vehicle by law enforcers. Unlike before when vehicle tracking simply meant dangerous interstate car chases, vehicle tracking nowadays uses methods that are so inconspicuous the culprits won't even know they are already being followed until it is too late.

A good example of a covert vehicle tracking system is the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System. This particular system uses a small, indistinct transmitter that is often installed in a random location inside the vehicle. The transmitter in fact looks like a regular car component, unlikely to be detected as a transmitting device even in plain sight.

The LoJack is the primary form of vehicle tracking system being used by several police jurisdictions. The transmitter of a particular vehicle is automatically activated upon receiving a report of that vehicle being stolen. From there, an accurate location of the transmitter is given and this increases the chances of finding the stolen vehicle. Frequencies sent from the transmitter to the remote controller is the system that the LoJack tracker uses.

About the Author:

These type of occurrences are what made covert Vehicle Tracking so essentially useful nowadays especially to the average citizen.

How To Find Cheap Car Insurance

By Susan Tanner

Car owners in almost every state in the nation are required to maintain auto insurance. Since most of us see our cars as a necessity, it makes sense to find the cheapest car insurance available.

If you've never shopped for car insurance before, you might be surprised at the wide range of choices you'll have in insurance companies and rates.

Doing an online search of the various companies is a good way to get started. Most companies have a website and will provide a rate quote at no cost, although getting a quote this way is not required to get coverage.

Running an online search for 'how to get cheap car insurance' should provide some quick tips from people who've already found good coverage. Any search engine will provide a list of available sites.

There is tons of information provided on these sites. No matter what aspect of insurance you want to learn about, the information is out there waiting for you. There are lots of places that give you ideas on how to get cheap car insurance. You should try some of them before you decide on one particular policy.

If doing your research on the internet doesn't appeal to you, talk with a local insurance agent who can provide you with the information you're looking for. Check your local telephone directory for a listing of agents and their contact information.

Gathering quotes and coverages by phone is a good way to get information if you can't or don't want to use the internet. Still, the net is the fastest way to find lots of options for cheap car insurance coverage.

Be sure not to let an agent push you into a choice. Get all of your information together and make an educated and informed choice. Take your time, and make sure that you start out with enough time to make a good choice without rushing. Always keep in mind that you will be much happier with an informed decision rather than a hasty one.

About the Author:

To find out exactly how I got car insurance, visit my website about auto insurance quote

Fees In Car Borrowing: Your Secrets to the Best Drive

By Salvador Paez

Not everyone in today's world can afford a car. There are also people that get their cars towed away and cannot afford to get them back from the impounding facility. There are also those that are just visiting a town and need temporary transport. For these people, renting a car is a great option. The prices of renting a car can vary.

A lot of factors contribute to the price of a car rental. The type of car that you rent and the duration of your rental are both very important. The more expensive the market price of a certain vehicle is, the more expensive the rental would be. And the longer you intend to rent the vehicle, of course, the more expensive your fee becomes.

There is also an increase in price if you plan to get insurance along with the car rental itself. You'll be paying a lot more if an accident should befall you without insuring the car.

Watch out for promos when it comes to car rentals when it comes to duration. When you rent a car for a long time in some companies, you can get some discounts on the overall cost. This is great for long vacations where you need transportation for a long period of time but intend to save money.

There are expensive rentals that cost a lot of money. These vehicles are usually used for special occasions or rented by the very rich. But there are a lot of rental cars for everyday use that are not as glamorous but are more practical for very many people.

So if you need a rental car, just search a directory or the Internet for some good deals. Remember to take care of the car: it is not yours, and the price of repairs could potentially be more than the price of the rental.

About the Author:

I got the best vacation at very low costs by learning about car rental fees. If you are prepared to buy now and snap up a bargain on you flight, car hire or hotel room then book online. Online travel arrangements can save you a lot of money. You compare the prices of the flight, car rental or boat charter and decide which is best for you.

2. Eat like a local - ask a local to recommend a good value place to eat. A lot of the tourist restaurants are just designed to take your money. One of the main costs of a holiday is eating out. When you eat like a local you also get a real sense of the iBiza flavour. There are a lot of set meal caf's on the island where for only a few Euros you can get a bottle of wine and a three course meal - ask around.

3. Rent a flat or villa instead of a hotel room - This is going to save you pounds. A big group can get a luxury villa for a fraction of what it would cost them all to stay in hotels. iBiza is full of people who want to rent you there property. Check them out on the internet. If you are living in a flat or a villa you can also save pounds by going to a big supermarket and cooking for yourself. Stay away from the tourist grocery stores though.

4. Take Public Transit instead of Renting a Car- Even though you might find the train schedules or bus schedules intimidating at first often the locals are happy to help a confused tourist figure out how to get where they want to go using the train or local buses. You can save a lot of money in car rental fees and parking fees by using local public transportation or taxis to get where you want to go in Ibiza instead of renting a car.

5. Stop at a Local Market for Snacks and Drinks - When you're out exploring Ibiza you will get hungry and thirsty. Most resorts and hotels charge a lot of money for meals and drinks, especially alcoholic drinks.
