At Hyundai of Tempe we like to sell Hyundais. They're great vehicles; the current line up has something to offer every consumer no matter what they're looking for. The wide variety makes our job a whole lot easier. So as a favor, we're going to offer you a few tips to make your job as the car buyer a bit easier! If you do these things before you head out car shopping your experience will be a better, more comfortable one!
1. Sit down with your spouse (or significant other or parent, etc.) and write down what you are looking for! Make separate lists. Be specific. List each feature that you would enjoy or that you would require: passenger room, trunk space, fuel economy, sound system, etc.
2. Next step is to trade lists. Each of you look over the other's list and see what you agree on and what you don't agree on! Have this discussion at home. you need to walk onto the car lot with the same purpose in mind. So make sure you can somehow combine your two separate lists into one that you can both work off of when you're looking for your new car.
3. Now sit down at a computer and find out all you need to know about current deals and specials. A good Hyundai dealership representative will be able to provide you with the latest, greatest info when it comes to getting in a Hyundai at special rates and pricing, but you don't want to discover later that there was an internet advertised special that no one mentioned. Plus...the more knowledge you have upon entering into the negotiations, the more comfortable you'll feel.
4. After you check out all the specials you need to decide what the best prices are on the models you're eyeing. Also find out what the median prices are for the models you're eyeing. Knowing the final price you're willing to pay for a vehicle before you get to the lot will leave you feeling much more in control of things once negotiations begin.
5. Lastly, you need to know what you are capable of paying each month. Unless you're going to pay cash, you'll be having a monthly payment in exchange for your new Hyundai! Figure out what you can afford and be sure to take into account the insurance rate changes that could occur, the amount of money (increase or decrease) that you'll be spending on gas, etc. Then don't be pressured to accept a payment that you can't afford once you're sitting down in the dealership's financing department.
Now you've got the basics and you'll be able to confidently walk onto the lot to purchase your new Hyundai and be aware of what's going on while you're negotiating. You'll know if you're being offered a vehicle that suits your needs. You'll know if you're being offered a vehicle at a killer deal. You'll know if you're being offered the latest Hyundai specials. You're on top of your game and you'll be able to get a great vehicle at a great price that you can be happy with for a long time to come!
