The car industry is jam packed with tough competitors. Staying ahead of the pack is a near impossible job. At Hyundai they ensure their own success by continuously improving their already high quality product.
One example of Hyundai's continuous movement to improve upon the quality of their already high quality product is the assembly plant in Alabama. Hyundai's assembly plant in Alabama is one of the best in the industry. It's state of the art in every way from technology to environmental elements.
The Alabama plant is responsible for the new Sonata and Santa Fe models, built especially for the American market. More than 250 welding robots (with additional robots checking the work of the welding robots) meticulously ensure with complex optical sensors that welds are tight and panel gaps are minimal. In addition to the stringent assembly methods used at the plant, every vehicle produced at the Hyundai plant in Alabama benefits from road testing.
So don't attempt to find a Hyundai Sonata or Hyundai Santa Fe with a zeroed out odometer. If you find one, there's something strange going on because every vehicle leaves the Alabama plant with 2.3 miles on the odometer. Immediately after coming off the assembly line, every vehicle is taken for a road test on Hyundai's special test track. All this ensures that everything on new Hyundai models is working as intended; no unexplainable rattles or unidentifiable squeaks.
Cars on the new car lot that have "special" sounds and noises or that have little quirks that set them apart (like a gear shift that sticks in reverse) usually end up on the lot a lot longer than any of the others! And it's not surprising. Nobody wants to pay good money for a car that is less than perfect! Hyundai knows this. It is the entire reason they have implemented quality measure after quality measure to avoid every anomaly, no matter how small. When a Hyundai reaches the dealer's lot it's because it's in perfect order and ready to drive off the lot with the consumer's full confidence.
Hyundai doesn't just talk about improving the quality and customer satisfaction of their drivers. At Hyundai the quest for improvement has checks and measures just as thorough as their industry recognized assembly plants. Hyundai employs continuous survey systems to ensure they are aware of the public response to their improvements, additions, and changes. And they all say the same thing...we're impressed.
